Find an example of how the actions of a regulatory agency could have economic implications.

Use one of these agencies:

• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
• Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
• Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
• Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

 

Example of how an agency may have an economic impact:  EPA is responsible for enforcing the Clean Air Act.  The economic repercussions included the implementation of fines for violating the law.

 

Directions:  Find an article that has been printed in the last month that discusses the economic implications of the action of one of the regulatory agencies listed above.  Read the article and highlight any key information.  Once you have read the article please:

• Summarize the article.
• Analyze how the role of the regulatory agency had an impact on the economy.
• Be sure to include insightful points and supporting detail.

 

You should also identify the title and author of the article in your title.  The summary should be done in ink or typed and with no more than three errors. The article should also be stapled to the summary. 

 

Note:  if you want to use an article from an internet source, it must be from a reputable news organization, such as a major newspaper (Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc.) or a major media outlet (CNN, MSNBC, Time, Newsweek, etc.).  Print out the article to include with your summary and analysis.
