Looking Through the Window: The History of Computers
Introduction
You have just graduated college with a degree in history and have been looking for a job. Recently, Computer History Museum has contacted you to create an exhibit on the history of computers. You have been told that you need to include at least 10 events that you feel are important in the development of computers and technology, starting with the invention of the first computer.
Task
You are to create an exhibit for the Computer History Museum that MUST include graphics as well as a brief written or oral explanation of each event. You will need to create a time line in Movie Maker to illustrate the important parts of computer history.
Process
Research the history of computers. Like any good researcher, you must first research your topic, writing down ideas and information that will allow you to do a thorough job as you create your exhibit. Use the worksheet provided to gather your information. Use the resources below as you research the history of computers.
Use the resources listed below to find graphics to illustrate your important events. Save each graphic (with a specific name that will allow you to know EXACTLY what the graphic is) in a folder called HISTORY_GRAPHICS in your computer apps folder in My Docs:
Use Movie Maker to create a time line of these events, adding voiceovers, informational slides, and transitions to make your exhibit interesting. Use the "How-To" sheet to get you started.
