I am writing you regarding the Apprenticeship program at KID Museum in Bethesda. We are currently recruiting students for our Spring 2019 semester and I was hoping you might be able to help me reach out to some great students. This could include connecting me with teachers who teach STEAM subjects or lead school STEAM or coding clubs at your school, sharing this email with your students, and/or including information about our programs in your morning announcements or newsletters.
The Apprenticeship Program at KID Museum is modeled on successful mentor and explainer programs in world-renowned science centers across the country that cultivate youth as facilitators for a comprehensive educational experience. KID Museum Apprentices:
• Work closely with Museum Educators to facilitate hands-on programming for children ages 4 – 14.
• Train to teach STEM and art-related activities, and learn how to interact with museum visitors.
• Have the opportunity to enroll in professional development sessions at the museum, in various disciplines (such as woodworking or 3D printing).
Please pass the application [linked below] on to your students, especially those with an interest in STEM, art, and creativity. It is also our hope that we may be able to schedule some time for KID Museum staff to set up a table at lunch and promote this volunteer opportunity. Please feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com with any questions. Additional information about the program, can be found by visiting: https://kid-museum.org/get-involved/apprentice/
The deadline to apply for the Spring 2019 session is November 20, and the semester runs from January - June 2019. Full details and the application can found by visiting this link. Application
