Our Mission Statement

To provide access and guidance to information and materials that promote learning, literacy and curriculum goals for the students, staff and school community.

Our Policies

The media center at Francis Scott Key Middle School is the school’s information bank. It contains books and audiovisual materials that students will need for class assignments, as well as, recreational reading materials. It also has a computer learning hub for research. The media center will be open for individual and group use from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on school days, unless otherwise notified by PA announcement.

Book Check-out
You may take out three items at a time. Most books may be checked out for two weeks, back issues of magazines for two nights, and reference books for one night.

Overdue Materials
If you have an overdue item you may not take out another item until it has been returned. Overdue notices are sent out in intervals throughout the school year. Students will receive them through first or second period classes.

Lunch Passes
Students may visit the media center during lunch if they receive a pass from the media center at the beginning of the lunch. Students will then eat lunch in the cafeteria, show their pass to their administrator at lunch, and will be given permission to return to the media center for the duration of lunch.
