The mission of the FMS Media Center is to provide support for the instructional program and to provide students and staff access to print, non print and electronic resources to enable them to complete research assignments. Through the teaching of information literacy skills and reading promotions the Media Center hopes to ensure that students will become lifelong learners, independent thinkers, and readers for pleasure and personal development.
This year we are promoting reading with the theme “Get a Clue--Read.” We have displays of many new books, book series, graphic novels and monthly themed books and we are asking students to “Search out Good Reads” and read a minimum of six (6) books per quarter.
We are also promoting the Black Eyed Susan reading program which is sponsored by the Maryland Association of School Librarians. Any student who reads a minimum of three of this year’s nominees will be invited to a Black Eyed Susan party in April.
