FCA or Fellowship of Christian Athletes is back! FCA will kick off its new school year tonight, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 immediately after school. All RCMS students are welcomed to attend. Being a student athlete is not a requirement. All we ask is that you attend the meetings regularly and are committed to assuming your role as a leader in our RCMS community. Mark your planners, we meet every other Tuesday in Ms. Monroe's new room in the 8th grade hall, Room 117. Please report to Room 117 immediately after school is dismissed and remember to not exit the building because you will not be allowed back inside. We hope to see you there!

Cheer on Clemente Our Cross Country team and Boys’ Softball teams have their first home match on Wednesday of this week. Come out to support and cheer on our Athletics teams who have been working hard in preparation for their first home match. Our athletes are looking forward to seeing Clemente fans there!

What Month is it? Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has designated October 2018 as MCPS Mental Health and Wellness Month as part of ongoing work in promoting students’ physical, social, and psychological health and well-being so that they are ready and prepared to learn. MCPS schools will be recognizing this morning and conducting programs and activities all month long. At our school, we will participate in Unity Day on October 24, 2018, discuss Bullying through Hawk Talks, and collaborate with our Counseling Department to support.  Everyone is invited to the countywide Mental Health Resource Fair being held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 11:00am 4:00pm.

Get Healthy Get Fit If you enjoy working out and learning about a healthy lifestyle, our Cross Training Intramural occurs on THURSDAY’S after school. Meet in the Cafeteria for a snack and wait at a table to be dismissed by Ms. Orens.  You need to turn in an Intramural permission slip signed by your parents in order to participate. Please get a permission slip, as soon as possible, from a member of the P.E. Department, on the P.E. bulletin board, or on our website if you are interested

It's an Earth friendly project that teaches outreach and earns free money for the PTSA.  Will you help us? It is super easy. Start collecting your used or unwanted footwear and use the Sign-Up Genius link to register your donation.

Cross Country Results We would like to say great job to our Cross Country Team for their first performance at their away meet against Rocky Hill. We had several fantastic performances during both the boys’ and girls’ race. Our captains; Megan Zheng, Jessica Cifuentas, Mostafa Elamin, and Eugene Choi all captured top ten finishes in their heats. Eugene Choi was our highest placed male runner with a third place finish in the boys’ race and Megan Zheng was our highest placed female runner with a fourth place finish in the girls’ race. Our next meet is at home next Thursday at 3:30pm, please come out and cheer on your awesome team as they face Hallie Wells in their first home race!!!! Go Hawks!!!

EBB Club AnnouncementEBB Club Rosters are updated and hanging outside the Cafeteria.  Please look for your name under the clubs.  Unfortunately, if your name is not listed, then the class you tried to register for was filled and you will need to make your way home at the normal dismissal time.  Are you interested in joining the EBB after school clubs? Space is available in Cheer Club on Monday, or Hip-Hop Yoga and Jewelry Making on Thursday.  Tuesday and Wednesday classes are full.

Softball ResultsGirls’ softball put forth a tremendous effort against Rocky Hill yesterday. Alisa Lyles and Clareine Miranda did a great job on the mound, and Taleyah Hall was outstanding in several positions on defense. Mia Forconi, Katie Ovando, Jacky Urbano, and Avy Aparicio also had key plays in the field. The team’s overall teamwork and willingness to apply feedback is exactly what RCMS is all about.  We are so proud of everyone's efforts and look forward to our continued improvement!

Congrats to all of the new members of the 2018-2019 Math Team.  The names are posted outside of the Cafeteria, Rooms 220, 234, 235, 120, and the Center Office.  Our first practice will be today, Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  Please report to the Cafeteria.  Mr. Fleming will pick you up and take you to Room 140. Do you love Science and STEM? Science Team and STEM Competition Team will have its first meeting of the year today after school in the Media Center.  All interested students should attend this first meeting starting at 3:15pm 4:30pm.  Any student who cannot attend the meeting should see Mr. Young after October 2nd in Room 234 to pick up the information passed out at this Information and Sign-up Meeting. Please arrange for a ride home after the meeting.
