Media Center Café – Today is the first Media Center Café of the school year!  If you picked up a pass from the Media Center to attend, get your lunch, show your pass to the Administrator in the Café, and go to the Media Center to enjoy your lunch and discuss great books!

8th Grade T-Shirt Designs – Hello talented 8th graders! Do you like to draw? Would you like your drawing to be worn by your peers?  Mrs. Blades and Mr. Hunter are calling on all of our 8th graders to design their 8th grade t-shirts!  We need a design no later than November 27th on white paper colored the way you wish it to look! Your peers will be voting on their favorite shirt design in December! These shirts will be up for purchase in the new year!

Media Center Café – It’s time for the first Media Center Café of the school year! The Media Center is offering a relaxing atmosphere for enjoying lunch AND an opportunity to discuss your favorite fiction books! Save the date; Thursday, November 21. A limited number of passes will be available.

Report Card Distribution for 7th and 8th graders – Reports cards will be distributed for 7th and 8th graders only today, Nov. 20th. 7th and 8th periods will be shortened today. After 8th period, 7th and 8th graders need to go directly to Homerooms to receive report cards. 6th graders need to stay in 8th period until dismissal - 6th graders DO NOT go to Homeroom. ALL 6th graders will receive their report cards on Monday, Nov. 25th.

Outdoor Ed Reminders – Outdoor Ed sessions 3 and 4 will be leaving on Wednesday morning, As you are packing tonight, be sure to pack plenty of warm winter clothes!  A coat, gloves, hat, 2 pairs of shoes that can get muddy and dirty, and extra socks! Review your packing list so you can have everything you need. You must bring a fully disposable bagged lunch with your name. You must be dropped off by a parent or guardian by 9:00am on the first day of your Outdoor Ed Session. Be sure to remind your parent or guardian to pick you up at 1:15pm on the day of your return.

Attention 6th Graders – Tomorrow is the last day to submit your ODE permission slips, medication form, and payments. All medications need to be dropped off by a parent or guardian with the nurse at school. Students are not allowed to bring medications to school.

Mindful Minute – For our Mindful Minute of the day, think of something recently that made you smile. What was it about this thing that made you smile? Gently close your eyes and for a minute, try to recall this moment and bring a smile to your face. Notice what the smile feels like.

Mental Health Awareness Week – Today we are wearing green to focus on the importance of mental health. You should start seeing flyers put up around the school about an event called “A Chill Night In”. This event is December 6th – a Friday night. Come try out relaxing activities like DIY stress balls, mindfulness, and more! We’ll also have healthy snacks and special furry (emotional support) friends visiting.

Lost and Found Items – The lost and found bin is located on the stage in the Cafeteria. Water bottles and lunch boxes might also be in the lunch bins in the Main Office. Binders are located in the Main Office hall near the nurse’s station. The PE Office and most classrooms also have lost and found items. Please take a look at these locations if you have lost any of the items.

Mindful Minute – It’s now time for our Mindful Minute of the day. Close your eyes and think about the happiest day in your life. Try to remember as much as you can about that day. How old were you? Where were you? Who were you with? What were you doing? How does this memory make you feel?

Lost and Found Items – The lost and found bin is located on the stage in the Cafeteria. Water bottles and lunch boxes might also be in the lunch bins in the Main Office. Binders are located in the Main Office hall near the nurse’s station. The PE Office and most classrooms also have lost and found items. Please take a look at these locations if you have lost any of the items.

Mindful Minute – Now for our Mindful Minute. Pretend that you are holding a cup of hot cocoa in your hands. Bringing the cup near your face, take a slow breath in, imagining that you are smelling the yummy, comforting chocolate smell. Now slowly, with gentleness, breathe out as you pretend to cool down the hot cocoa.

Mental Health Awareness Week – Yesterday was an awesome day taking pictures at our photobooth. Stay tuned this week to see the pictures displayed during lunches!

Early Release Day – Today is a half day, school will be released at 12:30pm. There is NO after school activities early release days. Please make sure you know how you are getting home today.

Attention NJHS Students/Members – NJHS is up and running, don’t forget our weekly meeting Wednesday, in the Media Center from 3:20pm to 4:20 pm. Please come to the Cafeteria after dismissal and wait for NJHS sponsors to meet with you there. You must arrange for your own transportation home after the meeting. See Mr. Yondou or Ms. Moore if you have any questions. See you there.

Take a deep breath in, hold it in for a moment, and slowly breathe out visualizing lots of shimmery bubbles floating into the sky. If there is something you are worried about, try imagining the bubbles carrying the worries away.

Mental Health Awareness Week – For Mental Health Awareness Week today, a photobooth will be available for students to take photos during lunch. Use the hashtag #RCMSMentalHealthWeek to share your photos and we will share them during lunches tomorrow! As we start to think about mental health, think about what relaxes you when you are upset. If you need some ideas, think about attending “A Chill Night In” December 6th. We will practice lots of ways to relax and there will also be some special guests! Stay tuned.

Make-up Pictures – Fall makeup pictures will take place today during PE. If you need to get your photo taken, please inform your PE teacher. Orders can be placed online at Lifetouch.com

Early Release Days – Today is a half day. School will be released at 12:30pm. Please make sure you know how you are getting home today. Monday and Tuesday are also early release days. School will be released at 12:30pm both Monday and Tuesday of next week. Enjoy your afternoon!

School Clubs – There are NO after school clubs on our early release days. (Today, Friday, November 8th, Monday, Nov. 11th and Tuesday, Nov. 12th).

Mindful Minute – Now it’s time for another Mindful Minute. Think about an activity or hobby that you enjoy doing. Close your eyes and visualize yourself doing that activity. Notice how you feel. For a minute, think about why you are grateful for this activity, what you like about it, and what it means to you.
