School Nurse: Ms. Linda Lewis
As the School Nurse, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child/children to Briggs Chaney Middle School. I am a registered nurse employed by Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of School Health Services. My responsibilities include assuring the health care of your child in school, direct care, health appraisal, counseling, referrals and health education. I work closely with the parents and medical providers to develop Health Care Plans for our children with medical needs, advising and training staff to respond to specific student needs. I am scheduled at Briggs Chaney Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
If your child becomes injured or ill while at school there is a health room where he/she can receive basic first aid and rest for a short period of time. The Health Room Technician is Ms. Elena Lewis. She is a certified medical technician, with years of experience, certified in First Aid and CPR providing care for our Briggs students. She is here every day of the week from 8am-3pm.
Parents are notified and requested to pick up your child when they are ill or injured. It is most important that the school have accurate home and work telephone numbers of parents as well as the emergency back-up person in case the parents cannot be reached.
Please be advised that NO medication (prescription or over the counter) will be provided in the school without the written permission of the parent and an order from the physician. A school authorization form must be used for this purpose and maybe obtained from the school, or the MCPS web site, parent/student, medical forms. Please contact either Ms. Elena Lewis or myself in the Health Room at 301-288-8330 with any questions or concerns about the health care of your child while in school.
We look forward to supporting your child’s health, and wish you and your child a very successful school year.
Ms. Linda Lewis, School Nurse
