Assistant Principal

Dear Bells Mill Community:

I am very excited to introduce myself as the new Bells Mill Assistant Principal.  I started my MCPS teaching career in 2001 at Bells Mill, so I feel as though I am returning “home.”  I am proud to serve back in the building where my professional journey started, and be a part of this special community.  Over the past 20 years, I have worked as a 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and reading intervention teacher.  My leadership experience includes being a Team Leader, English and Reading Content Specialist, and Assistant School Administrator.  Through all of these experiences and under the guidance of strong leadership mentors I have developed my teaching and leadership skills. I have a love of learning, and I am dedicated to continual professional development of myself and our staff.

I grew up in Connecticut and I first came to the area to attend Loyola University.  After Loyola, I  attended American University where I earned my Masters in Arts of Teaching.  In 2018 I earned  my certificate in School Leadership and Administration from McDaniel College.  I currently live in Gaithersburg with my husband Rob and our twins Bobby and Josie who attend Frost Middle School. I enjoy attending my children’s sporting events, running, and riding my bike.  When teaching at Wood Middle School, I was also the cross county coach.

I am deeply committed to providing our students with a positive elementary experience academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe collaboration is an important component in supporting our students in developing a passion for learning in an environment built on kindness and respect.  It is important to me that all students feel their individualities are celebrated and they come to school each morning motivated to achieve academic excellence in an environment where they feel safe to take learning risks.   I am truly honored to be a part of the Bells Mill  team.

Sincerely,

Brooks Kemp,  MAT
