Good Morning,

READ TO A DOG! 
Who: School-age children, especially beginners learning to read, English-learners, readers with special needs, and all those who just want to improve their confidence in reading skills.
What: Practice reading aloud in 10-15 minute semi-private sessions with rescued greyhound Luna, a calm and patient certified therapy dog.
Why: Improve reading skills, gain confidence, and discover that reading is fun! 
When: Wednesdays from 4:30-5:20 pm, September 12-December 19, 2018.* 
(*Luna will not be available on 10/3; 10/10; 10/31; 11/21)
Where: Damascus Library, 9701 Main Street, Damascus MD, 20872. 
How: First-come, first-served. No registration required; no younger siblings, please. FREE. Call 240-773-9444 for more information. 

 

Tryouts for boys and girls softball will start on Tuesday 9/18. All forms, including the physical, are due Monday, 9/17. You cannot try out without an updated physical within the past year! Don't forget to bring cleats and any other softball gear that you may have!

Mr. Fisher will be sponsoring Street Hockey again this year! Starting Sept. 26! Tuesday’s Wednesday’s and Thursday’s until Halloween

In fact if you order by Friday September 21st you will save $10, and get 4 free icons when you personalize your cover. This will be the lowest price of the year!!! Vaccination Requirements for Students in Grades 7 through 11:

Students whose immunizations are out of compliance on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 4, 2018, may remain in school for 20 calendar days only with documented proof of a vaccination appointment per Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 10.06.04.06, Temporary Admission or Retention.

On the 21st calendar day, Monday, September 24, 2018, students must be excluded from school and may not return until documentation of required vaccinations is provided to the school. Acceptable documentation of vaccinations include Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Form 896, Immunization Certificate, or a computer-generated print-out from the physician.

If you are trying out for Boys or Girls Softball, please meet in the hallway by the girls locker room/the entrance to the gym after school today. Good Morning,

 

Are you interested in playing a fall sport at Baker? 7th and 8th grade students interested in playing softball or running cross country this fall must sign up in the cafeteria during lunch this week! The forms needed to play are online under After School Activities on the Baker Website. This includes an updated physical. Tryouts will start the week of September 17th!

 

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming next week!!!
Now that we have finished up our first week of school and what better way to celebrate the new school year than to have a book fair! You will be able to visit the fair before school and during lunch all this week. We will be open until 3:30 each day and have special evening hours from 6pm until 8:30pm for parents during Back to School Night on Tuesday 9/11. And don't forget - you can order books online at Scholastic.com/fair

The Media Center will be open before school on Friday! Please remember to get a pass at the 6th grade entrance and to come directly to the Media Center. We have lots of new books as well as a new look! Check it out!

Nail Art Club is back! Starting next Tuesday, join your classmates to design the perfect manicure while listening to your favorite songs and relaxing after school. Stop by Mrs. Diehl’s room, that’s room 207, to pick up a permission form. There is a one-time only, ten dollar materials fee that will be collected before you will be allowed to participate. Don’t be left out! Get your permission slip today!
