MCPS Seniors Earn More than $393 Million in Scholarships

July 25, 2019

MCPS graduates in the Class of 2019 have earned more than $393 million in scholarships to date — an increase of $28.6 million over last year.

“I am very proud of our graduates and the hard work they put in to prepare themselves for college and career,” said Superintendent Jack Smith. “They are very deserving of these scholarships and I look forward to hearing about their continued success in the future.”

The Class of 2019 has received many prestigious scholarships and awards for outstanding academic performance, community involvement and leadership. Eight MCPS students were recipients of full-tuition, four-year college scholarships from the Posse Foundation. In September it was announced that 150 MCPS seniors were National Merit semifinalists, and 75 were awarded scholarships. Additionally, two seniors were recognized as U.S. Presidential Scholars.
