MCPS to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Drive for Supplies Program

July 9, 2019

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Drive for Supplies program with a media event on Monday, July 15 at Argyle Middle School.

Each summer, MCPS distributes new and gently used school supplies to Montgomery County families in need. The supplies come from MCPS students and staff who collect and donate supplies as they clean out lockers, desks and closets at the end of the school year. Last year, MCPS distributed 8,805 pounds of school supplies.

Drive for Supplies has generated more than 95 tons of school supplies since the program began. The program is a collaboration between Learn Shop, Inc., and MCPS.

Immediately following the event, MCPS schools, families and nonprofit agencies may pick up free supplies for students who need them.
