Media Advisory: Hundreds of MCPS Students to Attend 13th Annual Young Professionals Conference

More than 800 Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) high school juniors will attend the 13th Annual Montgomery County Young Professional Conference on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at The Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville.

Students enrolled in MCPS career pathway programs will have an opportunity to network with business leaders, learn about a variety of careers, and engage in real-word problem solving activities during the conference. The program includes a keynote address by Thomas Perry, the general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center, interactive breakout sessions, and a networking lunch.

The career pathway programs that the students participate in include the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, Broadcast Media, Academy of Finance/Business, Justice, Law and Society, and Advanced Engineering, Project Lead the Way.

The event is sponsored by MCPS, the Montgomery County Business Roundtable for Education (MCBRE), The Universities at Shady Grove and Montgomery College.
