Board of Education Approves Administrative Appointments; Passes Resolution Regarding Farquhar MS Modernization

The Montgomery County Board of Education met on Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville. Among other items, the Board made administrative appointments and passed a resolution regarding the William H. Farquhar Middle School modernization. William H. Farquhar Middle School Modernization
The Board of Education passed a resolution authorizing the initiation of condemnation proceedings, as allowed by Maryland state law, to acquire a plot of land adjacent to the current William H. Farquhar Middle School site. The Board approved beginning the process of condemning the land for public use because it is needed for the modernization of the school.

Administrative Appointments

The Board of Education approved the following administrative appointments:


Gregory S. Edmundson, currently principal, Rocky Hill Middle School, as director, Office of School Support and Improvement

Karen E. Caroscio, currently assistant principal, South Lake Elementary School, as principal, Community Montessori Charter School

About the Board of Education

The Montgomery County Board of Education is the official educational policymaking body in the county. The Board is responsible for the direction and operation of the public school system. The Board consists of seven county residents elected by voters for a four-year term and a student elected by secondary school students for a one-year term. Board members are elected countywide but run at-large or from the Board district in which they reside.
