News Conference to Discuss New School Year Initiatives for Reduced Class Size, All-Day Kindergarten, Workforce Excellence

A news conference - coinciding with the first day of school - will review the status of $26 million in new initiatives to address class size reduction, expanded all-day kindergarten, workforce improvement, and literacy programs, among others, in the Montgomery County Public Schools. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Haven Elementary School.

The conference will feature Superintendent Jerry D. Weast, Board of Education President Patricia B. O'Neill, County Executive Douglas Duncan, County Council President Michael Subin, other elected officials, and members of the community.

The event will be highlighted with visits to new all-day kindergarten classes at the school featuring 15:1 student to teacher ratios, first and second grade classes at the school with 17:1 ratios, and other programs at Glen Haven Elementary School.
