“5th Grade Challenge” Events to Support MCPS Educational Foundation

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Educational Foundation will hold the first of three “Are You Up to the 5th Grade Challenge” events on Thursday, April 18.

The fun events will test local celebrity contestants on their knowledge of Grade 5 facts. Students from 68 MCPS elementary schools will also participate. Proceeds will support the Foundation, which provides scholarships, grants and programs that enhance educational opportunities for MCPS students.  

The first event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 in the auditorium at Damascus High School, 25921 Ridge Road in Damascus. It will feature three contestants: Wayne Esworthy, plant operations manager at Wagners Meats LLC; Daniel Schrider, president and CEO of Sandy Spring Bank, and Commander James A. Fenner, Jr. of the Montgomery County Police Department.

The other two “5th Grade Challenge” events will be held:

 
·  Wednesday, April 24, 7 p.m., at Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Avenue in Bethesda

· 
Monday, April 29, 6 p.m., at the Olney Theater Center for the Arts, 2001 Olney Sandy Spring Road in Olney
