Students Offered Professional Development

May 18, 2007
The annual Professional Development Conference for Students will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007, from 8:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m., at the Universities at Shady Grove, located at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville. This event provides a professional-style conference experience for approximately 750 students enrolled in career-related programs from the academies of finance, information technology, engineering, law, journalism, and hospitality & tourism. The academies are specialized programs available at MCPS high schools.

The conference, a partnership between Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the Montgomery County Business Roundtable for Education (MCBRE), will include a motivational keynote presentation and engaging workshop sessions conducted by leaders from the business community. New to the conference this year is a networking lunch that will provide a venue for students to interact with business professionals in small group settings.

Presentations and workshops led by industry leaders in the students’ chosen fields highlight the event. Participants include representatives from Booz Allen Hamilton, Clark Construction, Environmental Protection Agency, Hogan & Hartson, IBM, Kaiser Permanente, Lockheed Martin, M&T Bank, Maryland Hospitality Education Foundation, Marriott International, Montgomery County Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, NASD, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sodexho, Sprint Nextel, The Gazette, UnitedHealthcare, USA Today, W*USA TV9, and Wachovia.

Please contact Mark Bernstein (MCBRE) at 301-279-3065 for more information.
