JHU Physics Lab Partners with Parkland MS

December 2, 2005
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, has signed an educational partnership with the Parkland Magnet Middle School for Aerospace Technology.

Under the agreement, APL will participate in activities that may include, but are not limited to, career day events, guest speakers, science fair judging, tours of APL, and classroom mentoring.

“With more than 60 years of aerospace achievements, the Laboratory is uniquely qualified to enrich the education of Parkland Magnet students,” says APL Education Coordinator Connie Finney. “This partnership will improve educational opportunities for students and benefit the entire community.”

For its part, Parkland Magnet School will recognize APL contributions through appropriate bulletin board notices, newsletters, announcements, and other public communications.

“We're delighted to add Johns Hopkins APL to our distinguished list of educational partners. Such partners are invaluable in giving our students the science and technology literacy they will need to succeed as future scientists, engineers, citizens, and lifelong learners,” says Shawn Krasa, Parkland Magnet Coordinator.

APL will participate in an open house at Parkland Magnet Middle School, Monday, December 5, from 7-9 p.m. Approximately 1,000 guests are anticipated.
