NEC/DCC Meetings Set for Private School Students

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will hold information meetings on the Choice Process for student assignment for families of Grade 8 students who are currently enrolled in private schools and reside in the Northeast or Downcounty Consortium attendance areas. The meetings will be held at the Spring Mill Field Office, 11721 Kemp Mill Road in Silver Spring, on:

· Tuesday, November 29, beginning at 7:00 p.m. for Northeast Consortium parents and students; and
· Wednesday, November 30, beginning at 7:00 p.m. for Downcounty Consortium parents and students.

The presentations will include an overview of the signature programs at the Northeast Consortium high schools on Tuesday and the academy programs in the Downcounty Consortium high schools on Wednesday. The Choice Process for student assignment also will be explained.

Following the presentations, private school students will have an opportunity to enroll in the Choice Process for the 2006-2007 school year. Appointments are required to participate in the enrollment process following the information meeting. To make an appointment for enrollment on November 29 for the Northeast Consortium and on November 30 for the Downcounty Consortium, parents must call the Consortium Office at 301-649-8081.
