MSMC to Hold Meeting for Private School Families

February 2, 2005
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will hold an information and enrollment meeting about the new MCPS Middle School Magnet Consortium (MSMC) for families of Grade 5 students who currently attend a private school. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at the Spring Mill Field Office, 11721 Kemp Mill Road in Silver Spring.

The presentation will provide an overview of the three new middle schools: Argyle Magnet School for Information Technology, Belt Magnet School for Creative and Performing Arts, and Parkland Magnet School for Aerospace Technology. The Choice student assignment process also will be explained.

This information meeting will serve two purposes: 1) to describe the MSMC schools and their programs and 2) to provide an opportunity for private school students to enroll in MCPS and participate in the Choice process. A series of meetings in January provided information about the MSMC to current MCPS students and their families.

During the February 15 meeting, private school students who wish to participate in the Choice process will have an opportunity to enroll in MCPS. An appointment to enroll on that evening must be made in advance by calling the MCPS Consortia Office at 301-649-8081.

More information about the Middle School Magnet Consortium and the Choice process for enrollment is available on the school system website at the link below.
