3 Schools Test Some Students & Staff for TB

January 31, 2005
Two Montgomery County Public Schools students have been diagnosed with active tuberculosis (TB). The students attend Kemp Mill Elementary School and Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School. One of the students recently transferred to Kemp Mill from Glenallan Elementary School. The three schools will participate in protocols for notification of all families and testing of students and staff that have had close contact with the students, recommended as a precautionary measure by Montgomery County health officials.

Health officials note that the risk of transmittal of the disease is low. Letters were sent to all families and staff in the affected schools, along with a fact sheet about tuberculosis.
