Forest Oak MS to Link to Internat'l Space Station

The U.S. Department of Education and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have arranged for a downlink from the International Space Station that will allow Grade 7 students at Forest Oak Middle School to ask questions of the astronauts in space. Astronauts and education specialists from NASA then will visit with students in their classrooms to answer questions not covered during the downlink.

The downlink at Forest Oak Middle School will take place on Tuesday, November 16. The program will begin at 8:45 a.m., with the downlink scheduled from 9:20 until 9:40 a.m.

Among the expected guests from the USDE and NASA are U.S. Undersecretary of Education Joseph Esposito and two former astronauts. Superintendent Jerry D. Weast and members of the Board of Education also will attend.
