Board Seeks Members for Family Life Cmtte.

October 19, 2004
The Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking adults to serve on the Family Life and Human Development Advisory Committee. The advisory committee serves an important role in providing guidance and counsel to the Board of Education and the superintendent of schools in the development and review of new and revised policies, as well as other educational curricular issues during the school year.

Appointments are for two years. Unless exempted by the Board, no member shall serve for more than two consecutive terms. Members serve without compensation. Committee meetings are typically held in the evening on the first Thursday of each month.

The Board of Education makes every effort to appoint advisory committees in which the membership is balanced by geographic area, race, ethnicity, gender, and range of viewpoints. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply. Nonprofit organizations and associations also are invited to nominate individuals, provided such individuals are members of or staff members of the organization or association.

Applications must be received by close of business on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, for appointments to be made at the Board meeting on December 14, 2004.

To obtain a committee application, contact Becky Gibson by telephone at 301-279-3301 or e-mail her at Becky_Gibson@fc.mcps.k12.md.us. Application forms also may be completed by accessing them on the MCPS web site. Completed applications should be returned to George Margolies, staff director, Montgomery County Board of Education, 850 Hungerford Drive, Room 123, Rockville, Maryland 20850.
