Board Approves Policy on Materials & Announcements

July 30, 2004
The Board of Education met on Thursday [July 29] and, among other items, approved revised Policy CNA, Informational Material and Announcements. The Board also approved eight administrative appointments and reviewed an update on facilities projects.

Policy CNA, Informational Material and Announcements

The Board approved revised policy CNA, Informational Material and Announcements, after a period of public comment. The policy defines the types of materials that may be made available to students and parents, either through backpack distribution or a community interest table at the schools. The policy articulates the Board's intention not to create and maintain a public forum through such a distribution of materials. An amendment to the policy added non-profit organized youth sports leagues among the organizations whose announcements and informational materials may be included for display or distribution directly to students.
