Dr. Henry Lee Elected to Fill District 5 Vacancy

Dr. Henry Lee has been elected by the Board of Education to serve as the new District 5 representative following the resignation of current Vice President Reginald M. Felton. Dr. Lee's term will end in November 2006. He was selected from among five candidates chosen earlier by the Board from a field of 17 individuals who had applied for the vacant seat. The election took place at a special meeting held by the Board on Thursday, June 17.

Dr. Lee, a dentist with a practice in Olney, is a resident of Derwood and a long time community leader. Among many activities, he serves on the Interagency Coordinating Board and as co-chair of the Montgomery County School Health Council. He has served on the board of directors of the Montgomery County/Suburban Maryland Division of the American Heart Association. In addition, he is a member of the Organization of Chinese Americans and participated in Leadership Montgomery in 2003-2004. Dr. Lee was president of the Redland Middle School PTA this past school year and co-coordinator of the Magruder Cluster. He ran for the Board of Education in the 2002 primary and general elections.

Dr. Lee is a graduate of the University of Maryland. He received a master's degree in Immunology and Parasitology at the University of Notre Dame and a D.D.S. from the School of Dentistry at the University of Maryland. He is married and has three children who attend the Montgomery County Public Schools.
