School System to Welcome More than 800 New Teachers at Special Assembly and Reception

Montgomery County Public Schools will welcome more than 800 new teachers at a festive assembly at Walt Whitman High School on Wednesday, August 25, at 9:00 a.m.

The assembly will feature welcoming remarks by Board of Education President Reginald M. Felton, Superintendent of Schools Jerry D. Weast, Deputy Superintendent of Schools Stephen G. Seleznow, and Director of Personnel Services Elizabeth L. Arons.

David Zaleski and Shella Burch, two MCPS teachers who will reflect on their experiences after their first year of teaching in the school system, will be introduced by Dr. Marshal Greenblatt, president of the Marian Greenblatt Education Fund.

The assembly culminates an orientation program that is designed to prepare teachers new to MCPS for the 1999-2000 school year.

The assembly will be preceded by a reception and continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m.
