Construction Trades Students Complete House

May 16, 2003
A Cornerstone Ceremony on May 22nd at 6:30 p.m. will mark the completion of a house built by students in the construction trades program at Thomas Edison High School of Technology in cooperation with the Montgomery County Students Construction Trades Foundation, Inc. The members of the foundation - leaders in the building and real estate field - have provided their expertise and guidance to the building project.

The house, located at 13003 Connecticut Avenue in Silver Spring, is the 32nd built by students in the construction program at Edison High School. Edison students did the masonry, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and landscaping for this house. More than 150 students have been involved in the project.

NOTE: The Home and Garden Television cable television station (HGTV) will highlight the annual student home building project in a program called “Dream Builders,” on Saturday, May 17, at 1:00 p.m. The producers of the television program took video footage at the house construction site and in the classroom during the first week of March.
