Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Emory Grove Early Childhood Center Set for Oct. 30

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will hold a grand opening ceremony for the new Upcounty Early Childhood Center at Emory Grove on Wednesday, Oct. 30 2019. MCPS provides full-day prekindergarten services for 80 4-years-olds at the Upcounty Early Childhood Center, which is housed at Emory Grove for the 2019–2020 school year. This is the second prekindergarten/early childhood center in Montgomery County that combines general and special education programming in one location.

Located on the same site is a Family Involvement Center, operated by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services’ Early Childhood Services. The Family Involvement Center provides a play-based early childhood program centered around social-emotional development. Children birth to four who are enrolled in the MCPS Infants and Toddlers Program; younger siblings of children enrolled in the Upcounty Early Childhood Center; or members of the community living within a one-mile radius of the Upcounty Early Childhood Center are eligible to participate in the Family Involvement Center.

WHO: Superintendent Jack Smith will be joined by members of the Montgomery County Board of Education, Montgomery County Council and other county officials.
