MoComCon, an all-day, all ages event celebrating all things comics, graphic novels and fandoms, returns Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Germantown Library.

As part of the celebration, MoComCon will include art and essay contests. The art contest is split into three age groups: child (5–12), teen (13–17) or adult (18+). Participants are asked to create artwork of their favorite character from any fandom, book, television show, movie, game or invent your own original character.

The essay contest is for anyone between the ages of 8–14. Entrants are asked to write a 300-500 word essay from the following prompt: Tell us about your fandom origin. What fandom did you first get into and why? How has it made an impact on you, and why is it important to you?

The deadline for both contests is 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.

Entry forms for both the art and essay contests must be included with all submissions and all submissions must be submitted electronically. Contest finalists and winners will be notified by email or phone prior to MoComCon.
