Resources for Montgomery County Substance Use Assessment and Treatment

  • Department of Health and Human Services: Screening and Assessment Services for Children and Adolescents (SASCA)
    Service Provided: Conducts assessments and makes treatment recommendations and referrals for Montgomery County youth. Specific services include information regarding substance abuse assessment and treatment services; assessment of drug and alcohol abuse as well as other related problems; urine drug screen; referral for drug and alcohol education seminars for youth and families; and referral for appropriate treatment services. Scheduled intake appointments are required. The appointment takes one hour. Urine and drug tests are conducted on Tuesdays and Fridays. Referrals to other services are given within a week.

  • Suburban Hospital Addiction Treatment Center
    Service Provided:  Outpatient and inpatient treatment. All of Suburban Hospital’s Rehabilitation Programs stress abstinence as a cornerstone of recovery. Clients will be breathalyzed randomly and will be required to submit random, observed urine samples in order to facilitate the recovery process and ensure a drug and alcohol free treatment environment. Introduction to self-help meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Smart Recovery is part of the treatment plan.

  • Medstar Montgomery Medical Center
    Service Provided: Outpatient program designed for teens ages 13 -17. This is an open-ended structured group oriented program to treat the emotional and/or behavioral problems and to address substance use/abuse difficulties.

  • Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program for Chemical Dependency
    Service Provided: Intensive Outpatient Services
    Treatment & therapy includes:
    • Comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse assessment
    • Individualized treatment plan
    • Access to Alcoholics Anonymous
    • Expressive therapy (including art, music, movement, and dance)
    • Individual, group, and family therapy
    • Pastoral care
    • Substance abuse education
    • Relapse prevention and aftercare transition
