Honors or Advanced Placement Course Enrollment 2005–2006

Description:

The rate of enrollment has continued to increase over the last four years (58 percent in 2000–2001) to 69.7 percent of last year's comprehensive high school students. For the first time, half of all African American students (50.7 percent) were enrolled in at least one honors or Advanced Placement course, an increase from 46.8 percent the previous year. Nearly half (49.2 percent) of all Hispanic students were similarly enrolled, compared with 45.3 percent the year before. Overall, more than 30,400 students were enrolled in such courses among the district's 24 high schools, the largest enrollment ever.
