Summary of Analysis for Centers for Enriched Studies and Enriched Literacy Curriculum

Description:

This memorandum presents results of analyses that investigated performance of students enrolled in the Centers for Enriched Studies (CES) and the Enriched Literacy Curriculum (ELC) at local schools in 2018–2019 school year. During the year, there were 704 and 1727 Grade 4 students enrolled in CES and ELC, respectively. Data from year 2018–2019 and the prior school year were used to observe performance of the students prior to and after their program enrollment. The result provided evidence that both ELC and CES participants continued to perform excellently on PARCC and MAP assessments after enrollment in either of the programs. While CES participants experienced a ceiling effect in performance, small improvement from the prior performance was observed for ELC participants. These data indicate that students are benefiting from the academic rigor that both CES and ELC provide.
