Maryland School Assessment and Adequate Yearly Progress, 2003

Description:

In August 2003, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) released information on the success of Maryland schools and school systems in making adequate yearly progress (AYP) as required by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. The attached report includes AYP information for MCPS systemwide and for individual schools in light of this new information, along with the latest information we have from the MSDE regarding AYP in 2004 and science testing under NCLB in 2007-2008. Systemwide, the new information had no effect on the AYP status that the MSDE had published for MCPS in August. MCPS maintained its status as not making AYP even though it met 36 of the 38 AYP targets
