Annual Districtwide Compliance Training

Dear Colleagues:

Montgomery County Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and welcoming learning and working environment for students and staff across our district. To fulfill this commitment, all staff are required to complete the annual Districtwide Compliance Training for the 2020-2021 school year. This training is designed to ensure that every employee has the necessary information to establish and maintain a positive, safe, healthy and lawful climate and culture in which all adults and students are able to thrive and do their best work.

The mandatory training consists of 11 online modules designed to be completed within one-half day. Topics include: preventing, recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect; equal opportunity in the workplace; bullying, harassment (including sexual harassment) and intimidation prevention; religious diversity; ethics; conflict of interest; and other important issues. Several modules have been modified for the upcoming school year in response to survey feedback from a large number of randomly selected staff members representing multiple job classifications. For our returning employees, we will continue to implement the pre-assessment format for seven of the modules. Correct responses on newly developed questions on the pre-assessment will be awarded completion of the module without further access necessary. In addition, portions of the content have been revised based on changes in federal, state and local compliance requirements. A refreshed design, interactivity, user engagement, as well as multiple resources are new and added features available with many of the modules. Newly hired employees must complete all 11 modules without the option of a pre-assessment format.

Based on your MCPS position, you may be required to complete job-specific trainings that are separate and in addition to the districtwide compliance modules. Your principal or supervisor will notify you of these requirements. The mandatory compliance training requirement, listed by employee association, is as follows:
