All In: The Importance of Camaraderie
and Teamwork on Behalf of Students

These last few weeks have been intentionally isolating given Governor Hogan’s stay-at-home order to combat the spread of COVID-19. This isolation has been particularly hard for our students and educators, who typically spend the majority of their days engaging face-to-face in the classroom. However, many have found new and innovative ways to come together to support one another during these difficult times.

I recently had an opportunity to interview several two-way immersion educators (Rachel Mann, Claudia Moncayo, Paula Liz Lueck and Genny Dorsainvil) from Oakland Terrace Elementary School about how they are collaborating with each other and with peers across the county to identify ways to best serve their students.We discussed equity and talked about their unique experiences navigating this new remote learning environment. They shared amazing images of their students using art to express themselves in the midst of this crisis.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has physically separated students and staff, our school communities are finding creative ways to stay connected. We are all in this together.
