About this Policy

Policy: KEA

Last revised: December 09, 2021

Purpose

To recognize the participation of students and employees in political campaigns and issues in accordance with the state constitution and election laws (see MCPS Exhibit KEA-EC: Political Committees, Campaign Materials, and Advertising [State Law]) regarding participation in political campaigns, partisan election activities, and distribution of political or partisan materials.  On May 25, 2021, the Board of Education suspended Policy KEA, Section C.(2) regarding student release time for political activity and directed the Board’s Policy Management Committee to review and revise Policy KEA in its entirety and develop a policy on student absences for the review and approval of the full Board.
