Videos, and information on a wide variety of science, history, math, health, technology, English topics. Appeals to all grade levels. Subscription required. MCPS does not hold a subscription, but some MCPS schools do.

Glogster is an interactive site for creating and sharing posters. Student posters can include digital pictures, text, and video. They can share their posters online.

Hippocampus
The goal of HippoCampus is to provide high-quality, multimedia content on general education subjects to high school and college students free of charge. Content is correlated to many popular textbooks, so you can find extension material that coordinates with a chapter you are teaching.

With a library of over 2,400 videos covering everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and 150 practice exerciseswe're on a mission to help you learn what you want, when you want, at your own pace.

You can find sites to supplement teaching on many topics. Use the Advanced Search to limit results by reading level or number of pictures.

a web 2.0 tool by the makers of Inspiration that allows you to create webs collaboratively with others online.

Quia
an online classroom management tool with quizzes, online activities, calendars and student tracking. But teachers create the online activities from templates which can be used by anyone for free. Here is an overview of Quia.

Scholastic's Online Activities
Choose a grade level and a topic area and then select from a list of interactive online activities for kids. The search function will search the entire Scholastic website including lesson plans and teacher strategies, and not just the online activities.

This website is useful for teaching students the elements of art and principles of design in visual art. A variety of methods in presentation, expression, and engagement are available to students using this website. Students can read explanations, watch animated demonstrations, interact with artworks to find examples, and create personal compositions using the elements of art and principles of design.

Some of the websites listed require a paid subscription. These are noted with Subscription required. MCPS holds a subscription for all sites listed on this page, except where noted. If you are an MCPS teacher, you can obtain login and password information from your school media specialist. In some cases, you will not need to log in at all if you are using an MCPS computer.
