The MONTGOMERY COUNTY STUDENTS AUTOMOTIVE TRADES FOUNDATION, INC. (ATF) is a nonprofit organization established cooperatively by the Montgomery County business and professional community and Montgomery County Public Schools to provide a unique method of training high school students for skilled positions in the automotive field: the Mini Dealership, a licensed used car dealership. Students receive valuable on-the-job training that will prepare them for higher educational opportunities or direct entry into the automotive industry. The vehicles below have been repaired and serviced by the automotive technology and automotive body repair students enrolled at the Thomas Edison High School of Technology, Damascus, Gaithersburg, and Seneca Valley High School. All vehicles are Maryland State Inspected prior to delivery and vehicles with less than 90,000 miles come with a 30 day or 1,000 mile powertrain warranty. All vehicles with 90,000 or more miles are discounted and sold in “as is” condition. The Automotive Trades Foundation processes all tag and title work. (Tags, title, fees, and sales tax are in addition to the vehicle price.) A $100 deposit (checks preferred; cash accepted) is required when you decide to purchase a vehicle. The balance of the purchase price is due when you receive the vehicle, within three to five working days. All deposits are non- refundable after one week (5 working days) after sale. Individuals who choose to test drive sale vehicles must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid drivers license.

Description of Lottery Drawing for Vehicle Purchase
From 9-11 a.m., customers are able to view and
test drive cars. Students will work with customers to ensure that the test
drives run smoothly and answer any questions about the cars prior to the
lottery drawing.
If you want to purchase a vehicle, you must
complete one lottery ticket. Please print the name of the person that the
vehicle will be titled in. The car will only be titled in the name provided on
the ticket. Only one ticket per household (address). Please place the lottery
ticket in the lottery box provided.
The lottery drawing will take place at 11 a.m. Requests
for test drives will end at 10:45 a.m. in order to give time for cars to return
by 11 and for customers to be present at the lottery drawing. Customers must be
present at the time of the drawing to be eligible to purchase a vehicle.
As each lottery ticket is drawn, the customer is
asked which vehicle he/she wishes to purchase. If they are interested in a car that
has already been chosen, customers may go on the back-up list (incase a deal
falls through), choose a different car, or visit another sale in the future. Once
the customer has made his/her selection, he/she is taken to the Mini Dealership
station to complete a Customer Information Sheet and to place his/her deposit
of $100 (cash or check made payable to MCSATF) to hold the vehicle until the
balance of the payment (includes purchase price, 6% tax, and tag and title
expenses) is made. Customers can also opt to take delivery of the vehicle. “Delivery”
of the vehicle may occur the same day (Saturday) or place during the following
week with an appointment scheduled for the convenience of the customer (usually
within three to five working days). Additional time may be allowed if the
customer needs the time to secure a loan or if additional work needs to be done
to the vehicle.
Following the customer’s decision, the next
lottery ticket is drawn and the process continues until all lottery tickets are
drawn.
All interested customers should stay for the
entire drawing to get a lottery number.
This number is very important! If the vehicle that you want already has
a deposit on it when your name is drawn, you can place your name on our Back-up
List. If a deposit falls through, then we visit the Back-up List and call the
person with the lowest lottery number who is interested in that vehicle.
Good luck!
If you have any questions, please ask any of our students and/or staff.
