Social Emotional Learning
Education Matters (August 2012): Board President Shirley Brandman discussed the importance of social emotional learning and how Montgomery County Public Schools continues to bring this into schools. This 30-minute talk show highlighted the benefits of social emotional learning to include stronger life skills, higher academic achievement, and an overall positive school environment. Guests included Molly McCloskey, managing director, Whole Child Program, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development; Brian Bartels, director, Office of Psychological Services; and Karen Scharff, staff development teacher, Rocky Hill Middle School.
