Education Matters (September 2012):  Board President Shirley Brandman discussed the importance of equity in the classroom, how teachers are working to create culturally responsive classrooms and schools, and how this will foster higher student achievement, especially among the school system’s minority students.  Guests included Troy Boddy, director, Equity Initiatives Unit, Office of Human Resources and Development; Heather Yuhaniak, staff development teacher, Neelesville Middle School; and Michael Williams, teacher, Walter Johnson High School.
