Board Approves 2022–2023 School Year Calendar

The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved school calendars for the 2022–2023 school year.

The Board sought feedback from the public on two options for the calendar. The majority of those who submitted comments favored the calendar referenced as Option 1. The interim superintendent’s recommendation was aligned with Option 1 and was adopted Thursday, Jan. 13.

For the traditional year calendar, the first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, and the last day of school will be Friday, June 16, 2023. The calendar includes a closure for the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8; non-instructional days on Monday, Sept. 26 and Wednesday, Oct. 5, and professional/make-up days on Monday, Oct. 24 and Friday, April 21, 2023. The calendar also includes a systemwide closure on the day before Thanksgiving, and 11-day winter (Dec. 23, 2022–Jan. 2, 2023) and spring breaks (March 31–April 11). The Traditional School Year Calendar has 182 instructional days.

For the innovative schools calendar, followed by Arcola and Roscoe R. Nix elementary schools, the first day of school will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022, and the last day of school will be Friday June 16, 2023. The Innovative School Year Calendar has 210 instructional days.
