Stormwater Management

What can I do?

What is stormwater, and how is it managed?

Stormwater is the water runoff from impervious surfaces such as streets, parking lots, driveways that flow into our waterways. The runoff can carry substances like oil, grease, trash, pesticides, and fertilizers that pollute the waterways.

Stormwater management is the process where we reduce the amount of pollution entering our waterways. Montgomery County Public Schools uses above and below ground structures (we call them stormwater management facilities) to remove pollutants from the stormwater before the water gets to the waterways.
