As summer approaches, most staff members long for days relaxing on the beach. MCPS employees are invited to join colleagues, or travel solo on a virtual trip from Carver Educational Services Center to Ocean City Maryland! Log your activity time which will translate into miles to cover the 160 miles from Rockville to OCMD.

Reach the Beach continues Well Aware’s goal of building long-lasting exercise habits. Teams can work together to encourage activity, and support each other through an 8-week activity challenge.

Complete the equivalent of 20 miles per week of activity to reach the beach before the 8-week challenge ends. With one mile being equivalent to 15 minutes, complete 5 hours of activity per week to reach the beach within the 8-week challenge!

All Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) staff members are eligible to participate in the Reach the Beach Challenge, including elementary, secondary, transportation, and central services staff members. Participants will log their activity throughout the 8-week challenge and track their progress using the online Well Aware Fitness Log. Based on participation, you will be eligible to win prizes for yourself, your team, and your school or office.
