Poetry During the month of December, you will recite your fourth poem. Find a poem with onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia refers to words that sound like what they mean, for example, sizzle, buzz, pop, rip, and clang. You may read or memorize your poem this month. Since onomatopoeia is more difficult to find, you may use poems by Jack Prelutsky or Shel Silverstein. Set up your paper with the proper fourth-grade heading. (This was shown in class.) On your paper, write the line or lines with the onomatopoeia. Explain the sound that is heard in the poem. Be prepared to explain the onomatopoeia in your poem to the class.
The fourth group (Claire, Anna, Jacob, Francesca, Charlotte, David, Jennifer; make-up Agustin, Aaron) will recite their poems on Thursday, December 16.
