Recognizes Nichols and Lin

Rockville, MD. May 17, 2007

The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (NIHFCU) recognized the work of Wootton HS Seniors and NIHFCU Interns Emily Nichols and Matthew Lin with a $200.00 contribution to the school. Wootton Principal Dr. Doran noted the enhanced academic value that intern’s gain through such business experiences. Doran and Wootton Intership Coordinator Judy Krueger lauded NIHFCU’s on-going and strong support of Wootton internships and the Credit Union’s valued presence in the community.

Nichols, working with NIHFCU’s Marketing Department, appreciated the opportunities her internship provided to learn about designing promotional and other materials. Lin, working in NIHFCU’s Human Resources Department, cited that his internship allowed him to develop greater appreciation for working in an office and how to handle sensitive tasks.

NIHFCU VP of Human Resources Bruce Wood stated the philosophy of NIHFCU’s work with volunteer, student interns as a “value for value exchange.” Interns gain the value of job training and work experience in exchange for the value of their work contributions. Wood noted that the stellar work of both Nichols and Lin reflected well on themselves and on Wootton. Wood noted that the volunteers’ record resulted in their being offered and accepting paid, part-time NIHFCU employment during the summer. Wood went on to observe that several volunteer interns have returned to paid positions at NIHFCU during their summers off from college.

At Krueger’s invitation, NIHFCU will participate in Wootton’s Orientation and Intern program in the fall of 2007.
