college visitsOff Campus VisitsSeniors and second semester juniors may be excused for a maximum of three (3) days for college visits. A parental note must be submitted to and approved by their grade administrator at least 48 hours “prior to the trip/college visit”. The note must then be taken to the attendance office where a form will be provided for each of the student’s teachers to sign. These absences will not be excused during exam weeks. The second Friday in May is the last day for school approved college visits.
Career Center VisitsSeniors may sign up for 'College Visits' in the Career Center with Mrs. Hitchcock in the Career Center. Students will receive a stamp in their agenda book to verify their expected attendance. Students can also use the software program Naviance, which is a program that helps coordinate the entire process for all stakeholders. In this event, students can print out the appointment and show to their teacher and their attendance will be verified. Students are responsible for class work and must get assignments in advance or make arrangements with their teacher. Failure to due so could result in attendance or grade penalties. Colleges visits are an important component for helping students make appropriate decisions and the staff at Wootton are here for to support them. So plan your visits and talk to your teacher! If a Junior asks to be excused they MUST have the teacher's permission FIRST (Naviance is not available for juniors). The reason for this, they have the opportunity next year to attend and the representative will explain the application and scholarships for 2010 admissions not 2011.
