Welcome to Thomas S. Wootton High School's Student Service Learning webpage. This site will provide you with numerous suggestions for volunteer opportunities. Check with www.mcpsssl.org for a listing of agencies currently approved by MCPS for SSL hours. Remember that you must have pre-approval for all agencies not listed on the MCPS website BEFORE you perform the service or you will not receive credit for the hours. Remember to submit your hours during the semester in which they were performed, or they cannot be accepted. It's a good idea to keep copies of your hours for your own personal records. With a few exceptions, students may earn an unlimited number of hours in any given semester. Students may not, however, earn more than 10 hours per semester for being a teacher's aide. All hours earned during the summer are due no later that Friday, September 26, 2008. After that date, no summer hours will be accepted. Future d eadlines for turning in your SSL hours will be announced on the Morning Announcements. Listen for them. If you have any questions, stop by the coordinator's office, Room 156, any day during periods 1, 2, 6, 7, or 8. |
