Wootton
Environmental Club (formerly the Bay Club)
The
Wootton Bay Club was founded in response to the global
warming crisis and has become a part of the Montgomery County
Green Schools Focus Program. The group entererd a county wide
Climate Challenge for which they designed a proposal to reduce
Carbon Emissions by switching the MCPS buses to Compressed Natural
Gas and will be awarded $1000 for their efforts.
They have saved over $2000 in energy
bills for our school by having the tube lights switched to carbon
flourescents. They have accumulated a lot of support from Wootton
kids and hope to make many more changes around the school in the
years to come.
Our mission is to raise awareness of the conditions of our environment, educate the public on what is going on in the environmental world and how to help, and to take action to improve those conditions.
