Forensic Science3864/3865 Forensic Science A/B (SC)Honors credit0.5 credit per semester Instructor: Sanford Herzon Course Website: www.teacherweb.com/MD/WoottonHS/Herzon This course will focus on forensic science and modern criminal investigation analysis. Forensic Science A includes selected topics in these areas: historical & legal relevance, processing the crime scene, Anthropology/Osteology, Odontology, Pathology, Serology and DNA Evidence. Summative quarter projects are assignment both marking periods. Forensic Science B includes selected topics in these areas: Trace Evidence, Toxicology, Fingerprint Examination, Impressions & Tool Marks, Arson & Explosives and Firearms Identification. Advanced laboratory investigations and usage of the scientific method is implemented in each semester. Quarter project during 3rd marking period. Quarter projects for seniors and juniors during 4th quarter. Semester exams for both A and B.
Textbooks: Criminalistics, Saferstein Forensic Casebook of Forensic Detection, Evans
Prerequisite: mastery of Biology A and B Co-Requisite: Chemistry A and B or Physics A and B.
