Forensics
Club provides students with the opportunity for Oral Interpretation.
This means that students interpret written literature for an audience
by "performing" or "reciting" it in an original
way.
Categories:
* Prose--This includes novel exerpts, short stories, essays, editorials,
journals, magazine articles.
* Poetry--Poems from any time period are acceptable.
* Drama--Any dramatic monologue, dialogue or scene my be used.
* Children's Literature--Stories for children ages 3 - 12 may be used.
* Humorous--Anything can be used as long as it's funny.
* Informative--Students research a topic, then teach from their own
scripts.
* Persuasive--Students write and give their own speeches using researched
data.
* Extemporaneous--Given a topic, the student must conduct research on
the spot and give a speech.
* Acting--A schene from a play is memorized and performed by a group.
* Readers' Theatre--Group performance or interpretation of a scene using
scripts.Most interpretations run between 2 and 10 minutes. Written text
must be present, but some portions are memorized. Students are allowed
to compete in two categories at each meet.
