Earle B. Wood Middle School houses the only Middle School component of Montgomery County's programs for students who are deaf and Hard of hearing.

For academic classes, students are placed in regular education and special classroom settings, according to their Individualized Education Plan. All Deaf and Hard of Hearing students join their peers for Physical Education and Arts Classes.

The Program offers 3 modes of communication: Total Communication (Sign Language), Cued Speech and Oral/Auditory. The special classroom teachers are certified Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and are skilled in all 4 modes of communication.

Total Communication Interpreters and Cued Speech Transliterators are provided for those students in the regular education classroom and for after school activities. The program also provides communication and speech services
